The reason behind this essay has been to study if previous research is relevant for Jehovah?s Witnesses in Sweden and see if secularization has affected the organization or not. Studien avser undersöka hur unga Jehovas vittnen håller sin tro övertygande. Frågeställningar har varit hur de hanterar den mångfald av världsuppfattningar, värderingar och normer som inte är förenliga med Jehovas vittnens lära, hur deras tro bekräftas kontinuerligt samt om de upplever sig skilda från den icke-troende världen. Tre unga Jehovas vittnen har intervjuats för denna studie. Deras svar har relaterats till vad tidigare forskning och sociologiska teorier säger om att hålla tro övertygande, att vara ung och religiös samt om att vara ett Jehovas vittne. My intention was to explore the childhood of children and adolescents within the religious organization of Jehovah´s Witnesses, in Sweden. I used a technique where I interviewed three active witnesses and four former members. The former members either had left the religion freely or had been excluded by the movement. I wanted to know more from those two different perspectives, because they often seem to conflict. First of all, I wanted to learn about the persons own upbringing.

The ambition of this paper is to study the construction of the categorization between ?us? and ?them? in a religious minority, represented by Jehovah?s Witnesses and a nationalist political party, represented by the Swedish Democrats. This will be done by a discursive psychology analysis of their official publications on each group?s website. By a deductive study using Henri Tajfel?s Social Identity Theory trying to disclose the psychological processes; social categorization, social identity, social comparison and psychological distinctiveness.
